This model was introduced in 1990 and is still in production. The .22 LR revolver is a totally stainless steel version of old model 17. This weapon has a modern K- target frame and is available with a 102 mm (4in), a 152 mm (6 in) and a 213 mm (8 ½ in) barrel. The total lengths are 232, 283 or 343 mm (9, 11 or 13 ½ in) respectively. This weapon weighs, depending on the barrel length, 1116, 1276 or 1488 g (41,45 or 52 ½ oz). The first series up to 1991 were supplied with and without a continuous ejector shroud. From 1991, this shroud ran through to the muzzle, and also served as a barrel weight. This weapon originally had a walnut grip, but was replaced in 1994 with a soft rubber combat grip. In 1994, the 617=1 was released with a modified rear sight and ejector star, followed in 1996 by a 10-shot cylinder version. A number of embellished versions of the Model 617 were launched as special series models, one example being the 617 Target Champion.
