This is the 1970 stainless steel version of the blued model 10, and is also in .38Special caliber. This weapon was available in three different barrel lengths: a 51 mm (2in) standard barrel, a heavy 76 mm (3in) barrel and a heavy 102 mm (4 in) barrel. It has a fixed rear sight and a standard K-frame, and was originally supplied with a walnut grip, however this was changed to a synthetic grip in 1994. An unspecified number of these revolvers were manufactured in .357 Magnum caliber for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Two years later, Smith & Wesson brought this type onto the market as the Model 65.
